Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained to prepare and track a response. It stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive routine technical information when a page loads:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- Device type and operating system
- IP address
- Browser name and version
- Time spent on a page
- A referring website, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic into reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the selected search partner
- Diagnosing errors and performance problems
- Maintaining site availability and page speed
- Learning which material visitors use
- Displaying ads that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material explains how to reach Caldwell County Sheriff Records, the Clerk of Superior Court, NCSBI, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention choices, and sharing rules. Those practices are outside our control, so review the applicable policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, or outside search pages. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a visitor's query
- Advertising networks serving site ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No Internet service is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a minor's data comes to our attention, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies and does not turn data kept by a private website into a county public record. Other applicable law may provide rights based on the facts. You may ask to:
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Obtain a copy of personal data held about you
- Opt out of eligible forms of processing
- Request deletion of eligible data
